National Foreign Language Week

March 5 - March 9

¡Hola!   Ní hǎo! Bonjour!

Feliz semana idiomas del mundo!

Happy National Foreign Language Week!

Su Escuela Language Academy is proud to be the first and only private full immersion Spanish school serving ages 3 months to 5th grade in Massachusetts. We look forward to celebrating National Foreign Language Week every year.  We watch the beauty of language and bilingualism everyday with our Spanish and Chinese full-immersion programs.
Sharing this week of celebration with others and showing our love for language is so very special to our entire school community.

Join in the celebration! March 5 – 9th

We are looking for Parent volunteers! Each morning during this special week, we will have an assembly in the gym for Junior K and Elementary 8:45-9:15am.  You are invited to come into the school and do a cultural demonstration, or share your heritage with our students during this assembly!

In the past, we have had Irish Step dancing, special crafts, Rock Paper Scissors game in Japanese, and so much more!

Here at Su Escuela Language Academy, it is very important that we are giving our students a global education. This offers a wonderful opportunity for you to get involved as a parent!

If you are interested in participating, please email your thoughts to Admissions@suescuela.com

We only have 5 days to fill with multi-cultural richness, so please confirm your participation as soon as possible!

Looking for More Ways to Celebrate?

There are things that you can do at home to celebrate other languages and cultures. Here are a few suggestions that families can do at home:

  • Encourage your children to teach you what they have learned in Spanish.
  • Help your child see words in other languages on product labels, newspapers, signs or magazines.
  • Play a game together like Candy Land, Memory, or Uno in Spanish or another language you know.
  • Listen to music, watch movies and read books in Spanish or other languages.
  • Try a new recipe from another country, or try a restaurant that serves traditional foods from other countries.
  • Label your home with words in other languages—and try using those words in conversation this week!
  • Share travel stories or things you have learned from people or other cultures with your family.
  • Play “How do you say….?”  Check out different websites to find phrases in hundreds of languages.

Back in 2013, SELA Elementary students wrote a “World Language Week Proclamation” and we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Governor Deval Patrick for signing the  Proclamation in 2013. SELA students are proud to receive recognition for their accomplishments in Spanish, Mandarin, and English. See this proudly on display at the front entrance to SELA.
