Distance Learning

During these unprecedented times, where we learn together how to navigate the ever-
changing climate surrounding COVID-19, SELA: The International Private School is closed.

Each day at SELA we are committed to providing our students dynamic, valuable, fun, immersion-based
learning opportunities and this has not changed. Over the past few weeks, SELA teachers and
administration have been working hard to produce a virtual learning experience for our students at all
class levels – Infant, Toddler, Preschool, JuniorK, and Elementary School – that provides rich educational
content and more importantly, some continuity and familiarity for each child.

Phase 1: Using Google Classroom, teachers provide students with interactive classwork including daily
lessons, songs, dance and movement, classroom routine activities, art projects and story times, using
tools and resources like video, audio and presentations.

Phase 2: Using Zoom, teachers provide students with a face-to-face, scheduled, live and interactive
virtual classroom including daily routines, daily lessons, song and dance, art projects, and story times.
Google Classroom is a continued resource as well, providing supporting documents, housing on-demand
videos and offline communication between parents, students and teachers.

As educators and parents during this unprecedented time, it is vital that we understand the necessity of
flexibility, patience, and ability to change course if needed. At SELA, we are committed to continually
monitoring the situation and staying abreast of changes and best practices in virtual education and
classroom continuity. As these things evolve, so will SELA.

We truly appreciate the support of our families, the engagement of our students
and the commitment of our staff during this new adventure in teaching and learning. We are all in this
