A Personalized Approach

SELA teachers are passionate, driven, lifelong learners devoted to helping each student succeed in a 100% immersive environment. Our teachers are all native Spanish, English, or Mandarin speakers and hold, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in the field of Education. Each is also certified in first aid, CPR, and allergy management.

With our small class sizes, our teachers get to know our students, getting to know their strengths and learning styles to help personalize the learning for each student.

Highly Credentialed Administrative Team

SELA also has a full, highly credentialed Administrative team, all of which share the goal of enriching the experience of each of our families. The Administrative team includes a Director of Elementary Education, Director of Early Global Education, a dedicated Curriculum professional, an on-site School Nurse, Admissions, Marketing, and Accounting Directors, Front Desk, and more!

SELA Teacher Philosophy

I believe…

    • • Teaching is more than merely an obligation to implement the curriculum; it is engaging and expanding the students’ knowledge to help inspire them to love learning.
    •
    • • That every child can learn, no matter what, and it is my obligation as a teacher to find the best method of learning to benefit each student.
    •
    • • Students need a mixture of conceptual and targeted subject matter for knowledge to be attained to the highest degree.
    •
    • • In teaching with a structure, but not too strict to the extent of it being stifling and hindering the students from constructing concepts for themselves.
    •
    • • That learning is the result of internal desires in the student, which are brought out by the teacher’s instruction and guidance.
    •
    • • I believe the most effective way for me to be successful as a teacher is to guide prosperous, self-actualized, confident, problem-solving children who can better the world and accomplish whatever they set their minds to do.

I will…

    • • Encourage creativity, attentiveness, open-mindedness, in a positive learning environment suitable for all.
    •
    • • Provide my students with the same respect and trust that I expect them to offer me.
    •
    • • Create and maintain an inclusive classroom where all students respect one another, and everyone has the opportunity to learn.
    •
    • • Build relationships with my students’ parents and my colleagues.
    •
    • • Encourage students to challenge themselves and to look at things with a critical analysis. I will treat all my students as individuals, especially at times of assessment.
    •
    • • Create engaging, structured lesson plans in Language, Math, Science, and Art, following SELA ‘s vertical coherent curriculum.
    •
    • • Give my students clear instructions and objectives before each lesson and activity, giving them the tools to find solutions themselves, but always providing guidance to their questions.
    •
    • • I will always be sure my students know that they matter and what they are doing is essential for them.
